Sr. Technical Search Analyst for the new Marketwatch.com redesign and Sr. Taxonomy Analyst for the WSJ new Autonomy Topics engine.  For Maketwatch.com tasks I used ASP.net for personalization coding and worked with Adobe CQ5 (CRX, software was called Day Systems at that time) the User Design Center in creating Search layouts. The technology was Autonomy IDOL platform.

Technical Project Manager (PM) For WSJ.com and the Topics engine, I used Microsoft FAST ESP to design a system that will merge Factiva taxonomy rules into a new topic/rule based engine for wallstreetjournal.com (this is a Java & Linux environment). Lastly, I am creating algorithms that will allow Entity Extraction (via Autonomy Eduction and Schematron XML methods) from articles as well as A/V files. The A/V meta extraction will not only get metadata from summaries but also recognize patterns thus making it more comprehensive. Technologies used are FAST Enterprise Search (premium content for WSJ) & Autonomy Enterprise Search (all other content).

Technology – Phase 2/3:

Sr. Technical Lead of a global effort for SharePoint 2007, Internal and External Wikis & Coveo Enterprise Search Technology global implementation across 15,000 users with over 5,000,000 records in a first release. Setup & Lead an Enterprise Search Governance Group consisting of one representative from each business unit within the organization. Build an IA framework integration with Sharepoint & Coveo that when complete will allow technical support personnel the ability to use a web-based system and search across all legacy active data as well as historic data. This will enable management to reduce the technical support workforce by 10 people thus further justifying the purchase of an Enterprise License. Implemented Omniture SiteCatalyst & Omniture Discover for web analytics across SharePoint sites, Wiki sites and search/taxonomy node metrics. Used Savvion Workflow integration with Sharepoint.  Collaborated with Design and Engineering teams to build user interface wireframes and conducted user experience workshops pre and post deployment. Setup and Integration Open Text environment. Led interlocking technologies group that was responsible for integration of Open Text, SharePoint 2007 and Coveo.  Furthermore; I created standard information architecture and interaction design deliverables for a complete site design of their Sales & Technical Support web sites. Managed an international team of 8+ developers for AstraZeneca in Sweden and Manchester, UK to refine and create global search & taxonomy applications for the company as they had missed several deliveries during the previous 2 years prior to me getting there. The role also included running the search committee, taxonomy governance committee and user experience committee which had 6-10 representatives each on both committees’.

Other Responsibilities included:

-Execute activities associated with Information Source Life Cycle. Maintain administration over the document repository and document all technical decisions/meetings/etc.

-Researched audience characteristics and performed competitive analysis and various user centered design documentation

-Interface with the vendor(s) (Autonomy, Plumtree, Vignette, Filenet, SAP ECC, etc.) as well as internal AstraZeneca resources.

- In October a decision to change platforms was reached by Sr. Level management and I facilitated an RFI and presentation process for numerous vendors for a technology stack decision

Responsible for architecting a search engine system that would consist of over 100 Terabytes of data globally. Integrated with the offshore team in India while an operations team in USA. Responsible for revamping a Parametric (dynamic) taxonomy that consist of over 41,000 Nodes. Used Autonomy Idol 7 and Autonomy Zantaz in working with the legal department for records retention policies. Repositories were Lotus Notes, Documentum, Livelink and Filenet.

Knet 1.2/PaLM Intranet Publishing System POC using Verity K2 4.5, Cocoon, Java, JSP, XML, XSP, Oracle

Mr. Jarmond was brought on board to resolve a high visibility problem of Real Time Indexing across Normalized Datasets in Oracle.  He successfully implemented a POC (Proof of Concept) with the Verity ODBC Gateway.  Core technologies utilized were:  Verity K2 4.5, Verity XML Export Tool, Perl 5, JSP, Java, XML, XSP and XSL, Perl, Verity ODBC Gateway, Oracle 8.  With Oracle he had to create data tables, event tables and triggers that would kick off an API.  The second part of the project was a publishing process project involving Cocoon, Java, XML and XSP to display the Verity collection.  Tasked with bringing information from many different sources and combining them, this process also would help streamline meta-data. Mr. Jarmond built a method that would take instant published information from the publishing process into the Cocoon XML framework into a database and into the appropriate Verity K2 Collection.
